five wardrobe staples I can’t live without

1. A LIGHTWEIGHT TRENCH I’ve been saying this for ages, but one item I wear consistently every single year is a lightweight neutral trench. Come spring, summer or fall, I always find an excuse to pull one out! I have acquired several over the years, but my favorites have all come from Club Monaco. They seem to have perfected the effortless silhouette I crave, whether it’s for dressing up tees and jeans or tying together a sleek dress + heels look. This is the style I’m wearing in this post – unfortunately it’s nearly sold out, but below are some additional styles to check out to create stylish, sophisticated looks for yourself! This drape trench looks very similar to mine, but for only $72! Loving the black trim on this work-to-weekend trench! An investment, but a worthwhile one! This trench is on final sale for only $42 in a large! Great price. Obsessed with the camel color and flowy look of this under $100 trench! Clean lines and classic styling make this trench a no-brainer. The puffed sleeves on this under $100 trench are a fun touch, don’t you think?! This is the newest Club Monaco trench on my wish list! 2. A FLATTERING PAIR OF SKINNY JEANS One question I receive a ton on InstaStories is what jeans I am wearing in the videos I post. 99% of the time, it’s this pair. Truly! I wear these so much I actually bought a second pair in the exact same style, wash and size. I just wanted a backup! If you’re looking for a comfortable, quality skinny jean in a classic blue wash, buy a pair and thank me later. 3. A CLASSIC NEUTRAL HANDBAG I’m all about throwing in a pop of color now and again, but neutrals are my everyday ride or die. In fact, I would say any time I end up with regret over investing money in an item of clothing it’s usually because it’s a bright color and I don’t end up wearing it very often. I can tell you with absolute certainty I have zero buyer’s remorse with my neutral handbags. Especially ones in black or nude! They are the most versatile pieces in my wardrobe, many of which I’ve owned for years and still wear very regularly. Like my camel Givenchy bag – I got it nearly three years ago and I still reach for it multiple times a week. It’s been such a useful piece that goes with everything in my wardrobe, any time of year! I highly recommend investing in a high-quality nude/beige/camel or black handbag. You won’t regret it! Check out a few new faves below: This new Tory Burch style is an instant classic! Iconic. This tote is a work-to-weekend essential! The textured leather will keep it looking nice and scratch-free for years. This bag in Taupe would be a versatile year-round neutral. So elegant! This structured top handle bag is so sophisticated and poised. The perfect day-to-night style! Loving this new Givenchy silhouette! The color is superb. You can’t go wrong with a classic flap! This bag in Beige is the next purse on my wish list. This other Givenchy bag in beige would be super useful too! Gorgeous, but with a little bite to it. 4. A LITTLE BLACK DRESS One area of my closet I like to go a little wild with is my cocktail dress collection. I love to play with color, sequins, cool shapes… basically pieces that offer something unique and will make me stand out! The dresses I wore to weddings this summer should be some indication – this dress and this one, for example! With that said, there’s nothing like a fabulous little black dress. They have staying power which makes them an excellent wardrobe staple to invest in! My favorite LBD from last year that I plan to pull out again this fall/winter season is this velvet minidress with puffed shoulders. I wore it SO much last season – so fun and flattering! Below are some LBD’s to take a peek at for this coming season. This velvet flocked number would be SO fun for a party this fall! Obsessed with the embellishments and neckline on this beauty! You know I can’t resist a ruffle! Such a gorgeous mini. I’ll take these bows any day. Pearls and velvet? Sign me up. This LBD would be ideal for wearing now and into cooler weather with a leather jacket. So cute! 5. A COMFORTABLE PAIR OF BOOTS Aside from jeans, the items I wear during fall/winter most are my boots. They’re so comfortable and look great dressed up or down! Like my handbags, I’ve had many of my boots for years and continue to wear them religiously. I’ve found classic boots to be a very wise investment, so here are some of the best from this season to consider for your own wardrobe: This Gucci pair is quite the splurge, but OMG! If you’re looking for a classic pair for wearing with dresses, jeans and more, get these. Loving this new slouchy style from Tory Burch! Obsessed with the Western vibes coming off of these boots. So chic! This is the pair I picked up for the coming season! They’re perfectly slouchy and the heel is sturdy and low enough for all day wear. So cute! { photography by Caroline Dyer-Smith } The post five wardrobe staples I can’t live without appeared first on The Style Scribe.
